Overview
Manchester Camerata, which has its Wigmore Hall debut today, turns 50 this year. The 35-year-old British composer Daniel Kidane has already won success in orchestral music, with a new piece performed at the Last Night of the 2019 Proms and another commemorating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in 2016. His new work for strings and crotales was premièred by tonight’s orchestra in January of last year and has subsequently been performed by the San Francisco Symphony. Kidane himself has suggested that it ‘creates a sense of inner stillness and calm – something that is much needed right now.’
