Overview

A return for the enterprising ensemble, here offering another work by Frank Bridge, his 1910 Phantasie Piano Quartet. Following that comes a movement from a 1943 suite by the African-American William Grant Still (1895-1978) – a groundbreaking figure in US music who attained many ‘firsts’ for a black musician in his homeland. Written in America in 1893, Dvořák’s work is scored for a string quartet plus a second viola.

This concert is part of the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust ticket scheme, offering free tickets to those aged 8-25
