Overview

The leading cellist joins with the French-Swiss pianist for a programme that includes some unusual works alongside two classics for the duo: tonight’s soloist herself gave the première of Brian Elias’s The Unnamed One in 2018. The latter’s teacher Elizabeth Lutyens wrote her Bagatelles in 1942. One of several of his pieces based on Jewish themes, Bloch’s work was written in 1924 and dedicated to Pablo Casals.
