Overview

It is hard to estimate the importance of Ralph Vaughan Williams, whose birth we celebrate this year. His much loved output played a central role in the resurgenceof British music in the first half of the 20th Century. Vaughan Williams’s great predecessor Elgar and two of his major contemporaries feature in a programme that closes with his great work written for 16 fine singers of his day, whose modern counterparts take part in this performance.
