Overview

A Christmas programme that closes with Schütz’s moving Christmas Story and includes music by such well known figures as Monteverdi and Schütz’s teacher Giovanni Gabrieli, as well as the lesser known northern Italian Alessandro Grandi (1590-c1630), another Gabrieli pupil who almost certainly met Schutz on the latter’s second Italian visit, plus an instrumental work by Schütz’s German pupil David Pohle (1624-95).
