Overview
Leading Irish chamber ensemble the Fidelio Trio brings the neglected music of Ernest John Moeran to Wigmore Hall, just a few days after 2023’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Moeran lived for a time on Valentia Island in County Kerry where the Trio holds its annual summer festival, and their recording of Moaeran’s chamber music was Gramophone Award-nominated in 2022 as well as featuring in Gramophone’s Best of 2022 Critics Choice, noted for the ‘superbly articulate and memorably affectionate advocacy lent to the disarming Piano Trio’.
In this concert, the Trio also includes music by Irish composer Joan Trimble, and the Swiss Frank Martin’s 1925 piece inspired by Irish folk tunes.
