Overview
‘The Power and the Glory’ explores diverse perspectives on our colonial history through music and poetry of the last hundred and fifty years. Thematically, these songs are about the search for identity at the height of Empire. Some songs are about a dominant power imposing an identity where it does not belong, whereas other works convey the struggles of oppressed voices trying to find their way. The beauty and complexity of these pieces allow us to explore uncomfortable issues of our past and present with empathy and understanding.
