Overview
His repertoire notable for exploring neglected pieces well off the beaten path, the British artist has been described as ‘one of the finest living pianists’ by Gramophone. Like Elgar’s ‘Enigma’ Variations, Poulenc’s collection, written between 1930 and 1936, presents portraits of his friends as captured in the composer’s improvisations on a given theme.
