'Strictly Wakeman' is a very unique concert with Rick, his son Adam and Hayley Sanderson. They have only performed once before as a trio to great reviews and are excited for the opportunity to work together again at the world-famous Wigmore Hall. Rick attended many Wigmore Hall concerts in the late 1960s whilst at the Royal College of Music, so this will be quite a nostalgic occasion for him.
Rick's son Adam is a remarkable musician whose talent is respected and admired worldwide. He has worked with a multitude of artists across the musical spectrum including Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Hadley and Atomic Kitten. His band Jazz Sabbath has achieved critical acclaim everywhere it has played, with two albums becoming instant collectors' items. Adam has worked with his dad on and off for nigh on 30 years.
Rick met Hayley at a Strictly Come Dancing recording at the BBC and played piano on her beautiful album, Just Songs. She was brought in to sing on the studio re-recordings of Journey to the Centre of the Earth and King Arthur, and toured with Rick and the English Rock Ensemble on the sell-out Journey tour in 2012. Hayley also sings on Rick's latest album, A Gallery of the Imagination, and is now a permanent fixture in the English Rock Ensemble. She received rave reviews for her appearance with the band at their recent two nights at the London Palladium.
Because of Hayley’s long reign as part of the Strictly Come Dancing band, she has earned the nickname 'Strictly', whence this evening's title, joining with two Wakemans, is born.
This will not be like Rick’s normal one-man shows: as well as a grand piano, Rick and Adam will swap keyboards throughout the concert; there will be stories; and there will be some surprises from Rick. Join us for a completely unique evening!
