      Overview

      Since its formation in 1995, one of Scotland’s finest musical institutions, joined this evening by the award-winning viol consort, has won two Gramophone Awards and been nominated for a Grammy; in addition, in 2021 it was the recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society Ensemble Award. To the music of two familiar composers are added examples by Michael East (c.1580-1648), whose music for viols is of high quality.
