Cancelled Concert

We regret to announce that, due to illness, Pavel Haas Quartet are no longer able to perform this evening’s concert. The concert has therefore been cancelled and there will be no replacement. We apologise for the short notice of this announcement.

Taking its name from that of the Czech composer who met his untimely death in Auschwitz, the ensemble here selects a 1923 dance suite by a talented compatriot who died in a Nazi prison in 1942, and adds Martinů’s Fifth Quartet, written in 1938, then lost, and premièred only in 1955.
