Four leading soloists come together for a programme of works for piano quartet, including a rhapsodic piece by Frank Bridge (1910) that his pupil Benjamin Britten would later describe as ‘Brahms tempered with Fauré’ – making the presence of the last two composer’s works in the same bill unusually apposite.
