Educated at the Purcell School of Music, Ty learned his first jazz piano chords from John Mills. Encouraged by Elmer Bernstein and Vangelis, he was signed to Elton John's Rocket Music in the 80s. But it was playing piano and singing at Mayfair’s Langan's Brasserie, at the tender age of 20, that started his brilliant cabaret career. In 2012 Jeffries's tragi-comic, piano-playing showgirl alter ego, Miss Hope Springs, opened the Crazy Coqs in Piccadilly and remains their longest standing resident artist.
This is Jeffries’s third Wigmore Hall appearance (including a recorded concert for Pride 2021) but marks his venue debut in civvies. He reflects, 'As myself I can explore more autobiographical themes. Hope was the butterfly and I must now slough off her wings and continue the journey on foot… in flats!'
Ty will be performing a selection of his acclaimed original cabaret songs and a couple of evocative self-penned solo piano pieces.
