An unusual edition of Bruckner’s orchestral masterpiece, played by a select group of members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, whose earlier recording of a chamber version of the Seventh Symphony received high praise. Reviewing a live programme, The Washington Post wrote of ‘a satisfying evening of sophisticated, expressive music making with a precision ensemble as snug as the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle’.
