    Overview

    Another welcome visit by an ensemble of established players who have acquired period-performance skills. Viennese classics forming the centre of their repertoire, their ‘Death and the Maiden’ received the following encomium from Gramophone: ‘Schubert’s darkest quartet seems more than ever a study in the inexorable power of rhythm ... It is also, properly, a drama of uncomfortable extremes’.
