Overview
Schoenberg’s First String Quartet, completed in 1905, captures the feverish mood of a pre-war society too busy to notice that it was dancing on the edge of a volcano. The Belcea Quartet also explores the boundless transcendence of Beethoven’s monumental Op. 131.
