Overview

Two contrasting yet complementary worlds overlap in this far-sighted combination of works performed by two musicians at the height of their imaginative and musical powers. Ian Bostridge makes a natural separation of Schubert’s seven Schwanengesang settings of poems by Ludwig Rellstab from those by Heinrich Heine and Johann Gabriel Seidl, to open fresh perspectives on Debussy’s sensuous Verlaine settings in Fêtes galantes.
