Aldo Antonietti was born in 1881 and studied with Emile Sauret at the Royal Academy of Music. Concerts throughout Northern Europe followed, earning him a warm reception – a Musical Times review of this Wigmore Hall debut described him as ‘a young violinist whose exceptional ability has already attracted much attention’.

During his career he had works dedicated to him by Joseph Holbrooke and John Blackwood McEwen, both fellow Royal Academy students.
