The young American pianist begins with short character pieces from François Couperin’s harpsichord suites, then traverses the grand Romantic gestures of Chopin and Liszt to reach Ottorino Respighi’s atmospheric nocturne and one of the most intimate movements from Messiaen’s meditative suite.
