Late Romanticism’s red-hot passion fuels Berg’s single-movement Piano Sonata No. 1, inspired by its composer’s studies with Schoenberg.

Antoine Tamestit joins Cédric Tiberghien for wordless performances of Brahms’s ‘Nachtigall’ and Berg’s lyrical ‘Die Nachtigall’. Their lunchtime programme closes with Brahms’s contemplative F minor Sonata, originally written in 1894 for clarinet and piano.
