Composed for unspecified forces in 1990-92, the first work involves each performer selecting 12 different sounds and playing within flexible time brackets; it was dedicated to Pauline Oliveros (who took part in its première) on her 60th birthday. From November 1955 comes Speech, consisting of the reading of newspaper articles to be selected by the performer, and the tuning of radios.
