One of the supreme challenges of the Lieder repertoire is taken on by two increasingly high-profile artists: the baritone has been described by the Süddeutsche Zeitung as possessing ‘an almost infinite range of colours’ and by The New York Times as evincing ‘an exacting attention to text;’ in his turn the pianist has been defined by The Guardian as ‘an exceptional accompanist’ and by the Daily Telegraph as ‘in a class of his own.’
