Works for piano duet or piano duo can be rewarding for listeners as well as such players as today’s husband-and-wife team. Originally written for organ, Mozart’s 1791 Fantasia was transcribed by him for piano duet, while it was Debussy who made the two-piano version of Schumann’s 1845 Canonic Studies, originally for organ or pedal piano. Satie’s Pear-Shaped Pieces were conceived for piano duet in 1903, while Chabrier’s Romantic Waltzes for two pianos date from 1883.

  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)
      • Fantasia in F minor K608
  • Robert Schumann (1810-1856)
      • 6 pieces in canonic form Op. 56
        • (arranged by Claude Debussy)
  • Erik Satie (1866-1925)
      • 3 morceaux en forme de poire
  • Emmanuel Chabrier (1841-1894)
      • 3 valses romantiques
