Beginning with one of César Franck’s finest compositions followed by one of Schumann’s most characteristic, virtuosity also finds a substantial place in a programme featuring two notably demanding works by Ravel alongside the equally colourful portraits of Spain contained in Isaac Albéniz’s volume inspired by his homeland, with its characteristic dance rhythms and vivid depiction of a Corpus Christi procession in Seville.
