Praised in The Scotsman for its ‘powerful individuality of sound’ and ‘instinctive singularity of musical intention,’ the Castalian won the 2019 Young Artist of the Year award from the Royal Philharmonic Society and has become a regular ensemble at Wigmore Hall. Two important works, with one of Mozart’s six quartets dedicated to Haydn (1783-4), and Sibelius’s sole major mature example, Intimate Voices (1909).
