It was at the 2017 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition that the Scottish soprano carried off the main prize as well as being selected as joint winner of the Song Prize. Her programme includes settings by the great 19th-century mezzo Pauline Viardot, whom Liszt thought a composer of genius.
