Formed in 2005, the ensemble described by Gramophone as ‘a trailblazer for the authentic performance of high classical chamber music’ makes a feature of employing gut strings and historical bows. Reviewers have been impressed. The Irish Times noted ‘what was on display was, in short, a peculiar type of recreative genius,’ while The Scotsman suggested that ‘playing with gut strings is one thing: playing with such assuredness and golden musicality on them is another.’ A leading clarinettist joins them for Mozart’s popular quintet.
