With his reputation as an unusually thoughtful and highly considered artist as well as a violinist of individuality as well as integrity, Christian Tetzlaff has long been welcomed in the world’s greatest concert and recital halls, in addition to enjoying a high-profile recording career. In 2005 Musical America named him Instrumentalist of the Year, while his discs have won several major awards. Josef Suk was Dvořák’s pupil and subsequently son-in-law. His 1900 4 Pieces are strikingly atmospheric. Dedicated to Brahms, his stirring Piano Quintet was composed in 1893 and revised in 1915.
