The increasingly prominent Scottish pianist has a particular interest in chamber music: he founded the Swiss chamber music festival at Ernen in 2019. Here he joins with a quartet he regularly partners for Elgar’s late masterpiece. The Financial Times thought the Doric’s recording of Haydn’s Op. 20 responded ‘with imagination to each fresh idea, bringing into play a lightness of touch, much spirit and – this being Haydn – wit’.
