- Dudok Quartet Amsterdam
Named after a music-loving Dutch architect, the Dudok Quartet Amsterdam offers two masterpieces in the sombre key of F minor: in the words of Donald Tovey, the Haydn work from his set of 1772 is ‘the most nearly tragic work he ever wrote’, while Mendelssohn’s last major utterance reveals his state of mind following the death of his beloved composer sister Fanny Hensel.
