Archived

  • Gary Hoffman cello
  • David Selig piano

American cellist Gary Hoffman, who made his UK recital debut at Wigmore Hall in 1971 at the age of 15, is universally known for the subtlety and freshness of his interpretations.

He and David Selig explore the expressive light and shade of two works created in the 1840s, complete with the Bach-inspired Adagio of Mendelssohn’s four-movement work and the supreme lyricism of Chopin’s G minor sonata.

  • Fryderyk Chopin (1810-1849)
        • Cello Sonata in G minor Op. 65
  • Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847)
        • Cello Sonata No. 2 in D major Op. 58
