Gemma Rosefield, whose Wigmore Hall debut was described by The Strad as ‘a mesmerising musical treasure’, returns in partnership with Tim Horton.

The sumptuous textures and serious dialogue of Brahms’s First Cello Sonata provide contrast with Beethoven’s ebullient Variations on ‘See the conqu’ring hero comes’ and Martin’s Rossini Variations, written in 1942 for Gregor Piatigorsky.

  • Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)
        • 12 Variations on a Theme from Handel's Judas Maccabaeus in G major WoO. 45
  • Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)
        • Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor Op. 38
  • Bohuslav Martinů (1890-1959)
        • Variations on a Theme of Rossini for cello and piano
