‘The only comparison that comes to mind is the old Beaux Arts Trio,’ wrote The Washington Post of tonight’s ensemble; ‘The combination of jeweller-like precision and a musical fire that ignites from the first bar.’ Wigmore audiences have previously enjoyed the Gould’s performances of cycles of works by Dvořák, Mendelssohn and Schubert as well as Beethoven – a composer it revisits in this selection of his pieces written and revised over a period of nearly three decades.
