In this opening instalment they perform the first four examples (1797-1800), the Op. 12 set dedicated to Beethoven’s teacher Antonio Salieri, the single sonata Op. 23 to his patron Count Moritz von Fries, dedicatee of several important works including the Seventh Symphony.
