Since Bach’s famous examples, many composers have added to the catalogue of works for solo cello. In the first programme of his residency, Jean-Guihen Queyras focuses on the genre, with major works by Benjamin Britten (his final cello suite) and Zoltán Kodály (his mighty solo sonata) alongside a 1955 work by Saygun.
