Grazyna Bacewicz was an exceptional violinist who later concentrated on composition: her folk-based Polish Caprice forms a vivid contrast with her compatriot Szymanowski’s Mediterranean-inspired miniatures and with Vaughan Williams’s idyllic pastoral vision.
