Born in Moscow to a family of musicians, the remarkable pianist studied at the Gnessin Music School before going on to the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem and then to the Royal College of Music. A Leeds prizewinner, she has subsequently established a firm place on the international music scene, admired for fine recordings as well as concerts with many distinguished musicians. Elena Langer’s new piece is related to her opera Figaro Gets a Divorce, premièred by Welsh National Opera in 2016.
