  • Kirill Gerstein piano

The Russian-American pianist’s eminence was recognised with his 2010 receipt of a Gilmore Artist Award, which he used to commission new works for the piano repertoire. His own programme is diverse, reflecting wide interests: rare pieces by Debussy sit alongside a group of April Preludes (1937) by the sadly short-lived Czech composer Vítězslava Kaprálová (1915-40), and a set of folk dances by the Armenian priest-musician Komitas (1869-1935).

  • Komitas (1869-1935)
      • 7 Armenian folk dances
  • Claude Debussy (1862-1918)
      • Page d'album (Pièce pour le Vêtement du blessé)
      • Elégie
      • Les soirs illuminés par l'ardeur du charbon
      • Berceuse héroïque
      • Etude retrouvée
  • Leoš Janáček (1854-1928)
      • Piano Sonata 1. X. 1905 ('From the Street')
  • Vítězslava Kaprálová (1915-1940)
      • April Preludes Op. 13
  • Aleksandr Skryabin (1872-1915)
      • Vers la flamme Op. 72
  • Encore
  • György Kurtág (b.1926)
      • Játékok
        • Les Adieux (in Janáceks Manier)
