Wigmore ventures off site once again, this time just around the corner to the beautiful church of St James’s Spanish Place. Le Concert Spirituel, founded by Hervé Niquet in 1987, continues to explore a wide range of repertoire, here focusing on multi-choral compositions from the end of the Italian Renaissance period and the beginning of the Baroque, in particular works by the grandiose Rome-based Orazio Benevoli (1605-72).

This large-scale programme of Italian polyphony involves the enchanting and luxurious sounds of eight choirs of four singers, accompanied by 15 continuists, which will no doubt sound exceptional in this magnificent setting.
