- Leon McCawley piano
‘One of today’s most impeccably musical pianists’, wrote International Piano of Leon McCawley at the beginning of this year. Of his complete Mozart recording of Mozart’s piano sonatas, Metro commented: ‘Here is playing of the highest calibre that is both insightful and unshowy, and which combines muscularity and delicacy – all-important ingredients for a successful Mozart performance.’ The Viennese classics continue to form a central part of both the live and the recorded repertoire of the Wigmore Artist in Residence. Reviewing a recent instalment of his Haydn series, Gramophone described Leon McCawley as ‘a thoughtful, keenly intelligent artist in peak form, who brings a wealth of pianistic resources to this incomparable music’.
