Hello Young Lovers

Cancelled Concert

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Louise Alder (soprano) is no longer able to take part in the above concert. The concert has therefore been cancelled – there will be no replacement.

The inaugural Kiri Te Kanawa Scholar and her ‘collaborative pianist nonpareil’ (The New Yorker) begin their programme with songs composed by one of the masters of mélodie, through works by the first woman to conduct many major orchestras in American and Europe (who considered her composing talents lacking!) and into Copland’s 1950 longest work for solo voice. Rorem’s art song ‘Early in the Morning’, full of wistful nostalgia, precedes a selection by one of the most prolific and well-known musical theatre composers of the 20th Century.
