  • Marcus Farnsworth baritone
  • James Cheung piano

The admired baritone and his song and chamber music specialist partner highlight the relationship between Mahler and Schoenberg, who was influenced by the elder composer’s stylistic originalities. Rarely performed is Schoenberg’s song-cycle The Book of the Hanging Gardens of 1908-9, consisting of 15 settings of Stefan George. Songs by Gustav’s gifted wife Alma also feature.
