Maria Pery piano

Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and more

  • Maria Pery piano* *London Debut

The first of two recitals given in 1901 by Maria Pery, a pianist and composer, who would return the following year to give a concert entirely of her own compositions. As well as pieces for piano, she wrote a number of Lieder, though relatively little record of them remains today.

It is likely that she is the same Maria Pery who is mentioned on a correspondence card from Alexandra Feodorovna, Empress consort of Russia, in which she expresses a desire to hear a Maria Pery play that evening. A review of this concert in The Times praised her technical skill and innovative phrasing, while her own works also evidently impressed, being described as both charming and brilliant.
