- Mariam Batsashvili piano
The Georgian pianist studied at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar and won both the International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists in the German city in 2011, and the 10th Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht in 2014. Liszt features, too, on her debut CD: ‘Her technical prowess and ability to negotiate Liszt’s showy grandeur is a given’, wrote The Observer, ‘but her sense of his inner world, his wistful, nonchalant poetry … sets her apart as one to watch.’
