The French pianist Marthe Girod studied under Leschetizky in Vienna and made her Wigmore Hall debut at the beginning of a successful European career as both concert performer and teacher.

Performances with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Concerts Lamoureux and Colonne in France built her a solid reputation on the continent, while an article in the American Music Trade Review described her as possessing 'beautiful conception, sonorous tone and a high degree of virtuosity'.
