The final of the Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards celebrates performances by some of the most talented young singers in the country today. The competition, this year celebrating its 25th Anniversary, is organised by Jackdaws, recipient of the 2016 Music Teacher Magazine Award for Excellence for ‘Best Classical Music Education Initiative’.

Past winners have included Amanda Echalaz, Sarah Fox, Christopher Maltman and Mary Nelson. The judging panel, chaired by Saffron van Zwanenberg, includes Mary Nelson, Jonathan Fa’afetai Lemalu and Christopher Glynn.

Following a preliminary audition, the finalists each perform a programme of four pieces including works by Handel and Peter Wishart.
