Taking its name from that of the great 19th-century cellist, chamber-music advocate and Royal Academy of Music professor, the ensemble that received three prizes at the 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition has gone on to enjoy a wide-ranging career, with numerous successes both live and on disc in the field of contemporary music as well as in the standard repertoire.
