Over the last decades, Irish classical music has burgeoned, exemplified by the establishment of Irish National Opera in 2018 and the increasingly high-profile career of Gerald Barry – now regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary music. His works feature prominently alongside those of Canadian composer Cassandra Miller and several of her compatriots in a day-long presentation by a remarkable ensemble that can boast no fewer than 500 world premières, including 400 commissions.
