In this further instalment of her residency, Rachel Podger plays two major solo works. BWV1005 is a typical sonata da chiesa in four movements, alternating slow with fast, the second a fugue whose theme derives from the chorale ‘Komm, Heiliger Geist’, while the partita comprises a prelude followed by six standard dance movements.
