- Roman Rabinovich piano
- Helen Charlston mezzo-soprano
Though his cantata Ariadne on Naxos (composed around 1789) is heard relatively frequently, Haydn remains largely neglected as a song composer, and there are many gems to be discovered among his collections of canzonettas and folk-song arrangements - including from Scotland. The Sonata No. 50 is a late work, dating from Haydn’s second visit to England in 1794-5 and written for the German-born, London-based pianist Therese Jansen Bartolozzi.
